HISTORY
It is known that there were Spanish people in Hidalgo before 1611, the year in which Bernabé de las Casas bought a large piece of land that included what is today Hidalgo. He settled in Hacienda de San Nicolás Obispo or El Pueblito, ancient names of Hidalgo, where he mined gold and silver. It was in 1828 that the town was registered in the state government, and was stated by law as “Villa” (ville) named San Nicolas Hidalgo, and in 1922, was renamed Hidalgo.
