What is a Temazcal?
The Word Temazcal has its root from Náhuatl (mexican ancient indian culture). It is a compund word that comes from Temaz, steam bath, and Calli, house. So it would be house of steam bath.
The Temazcal, from prehispanic time, is a therapeutic and healing steam bath that is also a rite and ceremony as was done by mayans and aztecs.
Back then, it was used mainly because of its healing properties, but is now also used as a way to relax and a beauty process that through sweating and getting rid of toxins will surely help to invigorate yourself, loose weight, and moisturize skin.
What is it for?
It is used for swollen muscles, knots and joints, caused by stress. Physically, due to the rise in temperature and humidity, the blood pressure rises and through sweat, all toxins, viruses and microbes are released.

How does it work?
All participants must be punctual. Men should wear shorts or trunks, women should wear loose clothing or swim suit, whichever they consider more confortable. The guide gives instructions of the sesion before all go into the Temazcal. The temperature inside is reached through previously heated volcanic rocks. The heat and the steam is controlled by the “temazcalero” (person that guides de session inside the Temazcal), who spills water infusions to the rocks. The “temazcalero” leads the session to relaxation throug elements like aromatherapy, natural products applied to the body, chants and breathing exercises, among other.
Alter the session, the individuals are covered with a towel and can either be covered with a blanket to continue to sweat or take a shower with fresh or warm water. |

Instructions for participants:
Be at least 15 minutes before reservation time
Have been hydrated with water one or two hours before
Have taken the last meal or food two hours before or have finished digesting
Not be under the effects of drugs or alcohol
Have an empty intestine
Bring your towel
Tell the guide if you have a health problem
Costs
$230 pesos per person, with minimum 7 and maximum 9 persons per session.
If there is to be less than 7 persons, the cost will be $1610 divided by the number of persons.
Reservations must be made at least 3 days before.
