Guided Big Wall Climb:

 " TIME WAVE ZERO "

Join us for the experience of a lifetime:  a two-day ascent of the longest route at El Potrero Chico (and one of the longest sport routes in the world): the 2300 ft. “Time Wave Zero.” This magnificent route tops out on the highest peak in the Potrero: El Toro (The Bull). This is a great climb for the solid 5.9 leader or follower. You are welcome to lead pitches if you display solid skills during the training days before the climb.

Guided Big Wall Climb:

 " Sendero Luminoso"

Big wall climbing in its purest sense is a different kind of fun; accending ropes, placing hooks, hauling bags containing all the comforts of home. Sendero Luminoso (The Shining Path) is a 2000 ft 12d. slab that assends the shady North face of Cerro San Miguel.  Because of its difficulty we will use aid climbing techniques and big wall tactics to scale this giant route over the course of two days  This route will teach you how to chock, cam, hook, accend and free you way up big walls anywhere in the world from Yosemite to Patagonia.

Itinerary

"Training Days": Prior to the big wall climb, you will spend four days training in the skills needed to complete this route. Your guide will climb with you on some shorter routes to review skills such as communication, hauling, fixed line ascension, and simul-rappelling. Climbing and descending as a team is essential for a successful summit bid. These days will also be a great opportunity for you to get to know each other.

Rest Day: Rest up and relax the day before the climb.

Day 1: Big Wall Climb

- Hike to the base of Time Wave Zero or Sendero Luminoso.

- Climb 1100 ft to the bivy-ledge and camp out high above El Potrero Chico.

- Kick back and relax while your guides cook up some Big Wall Tacos (steak, fishor chicken). After dinner settle into your bivy for a good night’s rest and mentally prepare for the big summit day.

Day 2: Big Wall Climb

- Early morning coffee and breakfast

- Climb to the summit and enjoy an awesome view. Take photos, celebrate, and sign the summit register.

- What goes up must go down. Using simul-rappel techniques, we will quickly

rappel to the base of the climb. After a short hike back to camp you will have a victory feast at La Posada’s restaurant to celebrate your climb.

Required Skills:

·         Belay skills: Climber should be able to safely and effectively belay.

·         Knots: Climber should be able to tie the auto block; figure eight (as a follow through, as a Flemish bend, and on a byte); and overhand (as a follow through, as a Flemish bend).

·         Coils: Climber should be able to coil a rope into a Butterfly Coil.

·         Anchors: Climber should be able to safely build and clean two bolt pre equalized and self equalized anchors.
