We meet at 9:00am at camp ground/hotel/our office La Posada Hidalgo N.L.
-
After getting all set up with harnesses and shoe our guide will explain on the ground with teaching tools how the gear and anchors work.
-
Then we walk one kilometer to a shady or sunny cliff depending on the day.
-
You will then learn how to secure the guide as he/she climbs up first. This system is called "lead belay". First we will demonstrate the fundamentals of the "belay device".
-
Once the guide is comfortable with your belaying skills he will lead climb a 20-30 meter long route and set a security rope called a "top rope"
-
Once the rope is set you we will cover: top rope belaying, movement skills, and lowering a fellow climber
-
After a couple of these when every one is good and tired we will cover a self lowering process called "rappelling" or "abseiling".
-
We want every one who comes through our school to leave well rounded. At the end of the day we will teach you how to coil ropes, manage, and organize all the equipment used in climbing.
